His Royal Highness, Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex visited Australia to promote and recognise The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award – Australia’s commitment to supporting disadvantaged and marginalised youth across the country, and the growth of funding projects in this area. The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award is the world’s leading youth achievement award. It has helped inspire, empower, connect and recognise the achievements of more than 8 million young people in more than 140 countries. The Award presents a balanced, non-competitive program of voluntary activities that encourage personal discovery, growth, resilience, perseverance, responsibility and community service. It is about individual challenge and encouraging young people to become mature and active citizens who positively contribute to society, through activities that inspire them.

In support of youth experiencing disadvantage, The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award in Victoria has formed significant partnerships to assist in this area, including a partnership with the Victorian Government to provide increased resources and support to facilitate the running of The Award in for youth living in disadvantaged areas, including remote areas of the State. In recognition this support, on Friday 6 April 2018 HRH The Earl of Wessex attended The Duke of Edinburgh’s Victoria’s Gold Award Ceremony at Government House, where he presented Gold Awards to 70 Participants, including º«Å®Ðã Alumna, Grace Ross-Farrell (2017).
